Title Counsel
Chester “Chet” Katz has been in the title
industry since 1975, and operated his own title company and law firm
for two decades. He was Freddie Mac’s REO closing counsel for
the District of Columbia and most of Maryland from 1992 to 2000. Fortunately,
for us, he joined the Capitol Title team in July, 2003. Chester is a 1972 graduate of Stony Brook University
where he earned his B.A. in Economics. He subsequently received his
J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1977. He is admitted
to the practice of law in the District of Columbia and in the State
of Maryland. He has a reputation as a “lawyer’s lawyer”
who is regularly consulted by other attorneys concerning complex title
problems.
While Chet has conducted several thousand closings,
he has been deployed as a company’s “quality control expert,”
in order to take maximum advantage of his knowledge and expertise
in such areas as estates, foreclosures and regulatory matters. Although
his physical presence is not at each and every closing, you can be
assured that his legal “blessing” is. |
